In Memoriam

J.D. Falk (1974–2011)

CAUCE founding member J.D. Falk worked on anti-spam systems and policies for influential
companies such as the original Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS), Microsoft, and Yahoo!.
He later served as Return Path’s Director of Internet Strategy and Governance.
J.D. was a member of the CAUCE Board of Directors and M3AAWG’s Document Editor, and until
recently, a volunteer DJ at KGNU, an independent community radio station. He passed away in
November 2011.

Don Blumenthal (1952–2019)

We remember Don Blumenthal with deep gratitude and respect. A dedicated CAUCE board member
and tireless advocate for a safer internet, Don played key roles in building the FTC’s
“Spam Fridge,” Canada’s Spam Freezer, and leading anti-abuse efforts at the Public Interest
Registry. His insight and humour enriched every community he touched, from APWG and M3AAWG
to ICANN. Beyond his technical expertise, Don’s warmth, curiosity, and passion for football
scouting made him truly one of a kind. He made the internet—and the world—a better place.
